Impact as a Service - MIT Innovator under 35.
It was a pleasure to meet Lucia Gallardo, CEO and founder of Emerge. She is a Honduran serial entrepreneur building socially impactful emerging technology and pioneering humane innovation by offering Impact-as-a-Service.
Lucia's goal is to tackle intricate industry and sector challenges in a humane, deliverable, effective, and impactful way, what she calls "impact-as-a-service." She is committed to fostering technological inclusion and supplying clients around the world with exponential technologies at the same pace that wealthy nations and companies are tapping into them to build their own competitive advantages. She has designed modular pricing models to ensure anyone and everyone can sustainably afford customized technology.
She hopes to shift paradigms that society holds true for equitability, inclusion, and sustainability. She defines success in terms of the interconnected dimensions of people, planet, creativity, and profit.

Luca is on the Board of Directors for: Penta Network, a company building inclusive blockchain solutions; Crypto Kids Camp, a non-profit organization that connects kids from lower income households to emerging technologies; Rainforest Partnership Board, a non-profit organization promoting the conservation of the world's tropical rainforests; and the Caribbean Blockchain Alliance, a regional organization promoting the adoption of decentralized technologies across the region. Most recently, Luca joined the Board of Advisors for Women Entrepreneurs Global, an innovation studio supporting the world's female entrepreneurs. She is the Co-Chair of their International Council and heads up their Exponential Technologies Division.
During the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, Luca also co-founded Tabik, a community for nascent entrepreneurs. Prior to starting Emerge and Tabik, Lucia co-founded Dona un Libro, Cambia una Mente, a Honduran education-focused non-profit and 2016 recipient of President Obama’s Young Leaders of the Americas Fellowship. Lucia has past experience in both the public and private sectors, ranging from immigration and trade relations on diplomatic missions to AI-enabled mobile tech and early-stage investments.
Lucia is a 2017 Venture for Canada Fellow, a 2018 RBC Future Launch Fellow, a 2018 Money 20/20 Rise Up Fellow, and a certified UN SDG Advocate. Most recently, she was listed as one of MIT Technology Review's Latin American Innovators under 35 and one of Royal Bank of Canada's 2019 Women of Influence. She is Acquisition International's first North American female blockchain CEO in 2019. In 2020, Luca has been nominated for the Royal Bank of Canada's Entrepreneur of the Year award and Future of Good's 21 Founders to Watch.
